What is Pupil Premium?
At SMFR, we support all children to FLOURISH. The Pupil Premium is additional funding to help schools close the attainment gap between children from low-income and other disadvantaged families and their peers. If a child has been eligible for free school meals (FSM) at any point over the past 6 years or has been continuously looked after for at least 6 months (LAC) the school receives an amount per head within their budget. This has risen each year to the current amount of £1,320 per pupil. St Mary’s is committed to ensuring maximum progress for all groups of children and strives to diminish any difference between groups of pupils.
The Pupil Premium was set up by the Government in January 2011. It means that the school will receive additional funds for children who are eligible to receive free school meals. Therefore, if you think your child might be entitled to free school meals, it will help the school enormously if you register by completing the application form below and returning it to the school office.
Please do this even if you do not intend your child to have free school meals.

You are entitled to free school meals if you are in receipt of Income Support, an Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance, and Income-Related Employment and Support Allowance, Child Tax Credit (only if you do NOT receive Working Tax Credit), Guaranteed Element of State Pension Credit, National Asylum Support Service.
At St Mary’s we have a clear, strategic approach to the use of specific Pupil Premium funding and plans are integrated into wider school support and improvement systems. These are monitored and evaluated regularly and in depth data analysis ensures that the correct support and strategies are identified to accelerate progress.
